Product Description
Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss’s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12. Powerful and haunting, this thrilling final installment of Suzanne Collins’s groundbreaking The Hunger Games trilogy promises to be one of the most talked about books of the year.

Not as good as the first two. September 10, 2010 Jeffrey A. Williams (New York) Even if the final chapter was not what I expected. I would definitely read more books from Mrs. Collins.
Please! Why?!? September 10, 2010 B. Reed (Charlotte, North Carolina) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First off, let me say, I LOVED the first two books of this amazing series. I felt it wasn't afraid to give the mature violence and emotions needed that some yound adults shy away from. Well this book sure had the violence but I was left just skimping the last half of the book because every chapter became more and more of a let down! I had been waiting so long for this amazing end to a trilogy, only to feel, well, cheated. I understand the emotional toll and stress, and devestation war can bring. However the character Katniss, who I had no greatly come to admire for her strength and "guts" as a female main character, ended up running around the entire book lost and confused. She rarley if ever stood up and made definitive decisions. And as a female I was excited to see she picked peeta at the end , but "oh wait!" lets just snub him the whole book and not try to get close to hime at all and then at the end basically say, "This is best I could hope for." Geez. I'm not into the gushy, mushy romance but she could have at least acted like it she truley loved him instead of it was her only option! I am beyond frustrated and I serioulsy feel cheated as a loyal fan. I will contiue to re-read the first two book and disreguard this last one. Little emotion, little explanation to major plot changes, and too little of our old beloved Katniss.
A Very Disappointing End to the Series.... September 10, 2010 Corinne O. I was SO excited to get Mockingjay. I had been wait for about nine months. When I first got it, although I was very excited, it was actually hard to get into, very unlike the other two. Katniss didn't seem like her real self. Although this would have been a bit much, because the 1st and 2nd books feature this, I actually missed the arena's suspense and exhilaration. It seemed like the book was blah for 2/3 of it and finally got ok at the end. I really wish this would have been better because I love Suzanne Collins but she just didn't come through on this. I have to give her credit though, it's hard to follow an act when the first two books were such great sellers. All in all, disappointing but at least we know what happens.

Seriously? That's It? September 10, 2010 Andrea (Bowdoin, ME) First, the best thing about the two previous books is Katniss. She is not there the entire third book. She is literally on drugs the whole book, and a total puppet. Gone are her independant streaks, her planning, her brain. The book could not only be 100 pages shorter, it could be less graphic, and there is no reason to kill off characters Collins does. It's just gratuitous violence. This book is barely related to the other two. Plus, the ending is far too pat, too easy, too succinct and neat. There is a huge war, people are killed, and Katniss lives happily ever after...What??? No way!
HUGE let down. September 9, 2010 RobinLeanne (Pa) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I placed the first two books in my top 10 category. They were brilliant to say the least. I fell in love with the characters and could not decide myself -Peeta or Gale. After reading Mockingjay, I felt so numb I had to remind myself why I even bothered pushing through this book. Katniss does not mature in this story, instead declines as a character. She has no true "hero" moments with inspiring statements or thoughts and is mentally absent throughout this book that I feel that there is no point. Worse of all, the entire Peeta/Gale situation is so disappointing that I question if there was anything there to begin with. Katniss is made out to be helpless and heartless from beginning to end that I no longer cared for her. I was hoping for a happy ending, and again was completely put off by the lack of tenderness and any tying of loose ends for the love triangle. Gale was completely cut out with no explanation and Peeta never had a warm arms-wide-open welcoming from the too-numbed-to-live Katniss. No rainbows and happily ever afters here... pure depression that only brought me down and put me in a bad mood for days. I truly wish this book was nonexistent.
