Be an Analysis Ninja! July 2, 2010 Caleb 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Avinash has crafted a wonderful book that is helpful for readers of varying backgrounds in Web Analytics. While written at a level that is easily understandable for beginners, he goes into enough depth to ensure that even the most seasoned analytics professionals emerge with new nuggets of gold.
As a beginner myself, I found that after reading, I am much more able to not only accomplish my daily tasks, but also go above and beyod the basic reporting that is easy to fall in to.
Do not be intimidated by the fact that the book resembles a textbook in appearance. Avinash keeps the reader entertained throughout and it is written in a very conversational tone.
Enjoy.
Read this book before making one more "gut decision". June 28, 2010 Brandon M Hays (Holladay, UT United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you've ever stared at an analytics dashboard with your eyes glazed over (or worse, you haven't), you need to read this book before applying ONE MORE marketing principle. Before any other project. Stop now. Read this. Then get back to work on the most important project of your career: learning to make data-driven decisions.
This is not a series of dry lectures: Avinash's light, readable, and personal tone makes it feel like he's stepping into your role, and walking with you as you discover the joys that come with moving past the numbers and really discovering insights about your customers.
Though the latter half of the book is written for the "impress your boss" crowd, I think every business owner needs to read this and understand why they need a data wonk that's empowered to make recommendations, not just someone to run numbers and present graphs.
Web analytics is a widely misunderstood field (even by me, before reading this). The author understands most people don't really know where to start, and he walks you through the process of deciding what to measure first, skipping common pitfalls and frustrations.
This book and a solid week or 2 with Google Analytics will take you from where you are now (most likely clueless) to the most informed person in the business.
I watched businesses crumble into the sea while ignoring the most basic principles in this book. You can ignore it at your peril, or reap rewards of personal satisfaction, as well as those of success in your business.
Avinash is a real human being that illuminates a very walkable path to a major discovery: Analytics is more than numbers, and even more than revenue: it's about creating deeper connections between you and your customers & readers.
problems with Kindle-for-PC edition June 13, 2010 S. Mohan (India) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Loved the book and would have given it 5 stars if it were not for the problems I faced with the Kindle-for-PC edition. All tables/reports are included as figures/images and they're barely readable in the this edition. There should be a zoom option in the PC version; a lot of critical information is presented in these tables/reports and missing these critical pieces take away from the effectiveness of the book overall.

Taking it One Step at a Time May 12, 2010 Eric Olsen (Plainfield, IL) For the first time in years, I feel like I'm not in over my head anymore. Web Analytics 2.0 taught me what to measure, how to measure and what you can't measure. Not just a theoretical approach to analytics, Web Analytics 2.0 gave me practical to-dos and next-steps. If you do it one step at a time, it's not as scary as you might think.
